The University of Maine women’s basketball team saw their season end Friday night in Pennsylvania, as they were beaten by Villanova 71-60 in the first round of the WNIT. The Black Bears fell behind early thanks to red-hot shooting by Villanova, who took a 40-21 lead into halftime. Maine rallied late but ran out of time against a host team making their thirteenth postseason appearance in sixteen years. Sigi Koizar led Maine with 22 points as the Black Bears finish their season with a record of 23-9.
